Amyloid Disease - Cause, Symptoms, Treatment of Amyloid Disease

Amyloid Disease is a disease in which amyloid, an abnormal protien is deposited in organs such as the kidneys, liver and spleen, adversely affecting their functions. Amyloid Disease, also called amyloidosis, is usually a complication of other diseases.

In some patients, however, it develops without any apperent cause, affecting the tounge and heart. This condition is thought to be caused by a malfunction of the body's natural defences against disease, and is known as primary Amyloidosis.

Amyloid Disease Treatment

There is no cure for Amyloidosis, although in the early stages it may be affected by steroids. Treatment is aimed at the underlying disease.
