Amenorrhoea - Cause, Symptoms, Treatment of Amenorrhoea

Amenorrhoea is the absence of normal menstrual periods in women after pubetry an dbefore the menopause.

If periods have not started by the age of 1, the condition is called primary amenorrhoea. It has a number of possible causes. These include a physical deformity of the uterus or vagina. It may also be due to disorders of the endocrine system.

In secondary Amenorrhoea, periods cease. The most common cause of this condition are pregnancy and breast-feeding, but it it often seen in women who have stopped taking the contraceptive pill. In this case, periods may not become regular for up to a year.
