Ambylopia is defined as any deficiency in vision that cannot be accounted for by a defect in the optical system of teh eye. Ambylopia is normally the result of an inflammation of the optic nerve.

Treatment of Ambylopia depends upon its cause. Vitamin deficiencies can be made good by replacement vitamins while large dosages of hydroxocobalamine, a derivative of Vitamin B12 helps to detoxify cyanide, the agent in tobacco smoke that is largely responsible for neuritis.
