Acne vulgaris - Cause, Symptoms, Treatment of Acne vulgarisAcne Vulgaris is genrally caused by the hormonal changes of adoloscence and of the menarche and menopause in women. These chemical changes lead to an increase in the sebaceous glands of the skin of the face, chest and back. The sebum produced becomes trapped beneath the skin forming a plug called a comedone or blackhead. This becomes infected, causing the skin to become inflamed and covered with red and purpilish pimples and acne. Acne vulgaris normally disappear spontaneously but in severe cases they may leave unsightly scars. The condition is often extremly distressing and may aggravate the mental and physical upheavals caused by puberty and the menopause. |
